Volvo Wagon, Volvo Sedan, VW Toureg, Audi Sedan, Jeep Grand Cherokee,   BMW x5,  Dodge Journey, Toyota Venza,  Hyundai Santa Fe,  Toyota Highlander,  Volvo XC 60,  Dodge Grand Caravan,  Audi Q5, Chevy Colorado, Honda Ridgeline...........
European regulations only allow about 4% of the total trailer weight to be on the tongue of
the trailer ... a maximum of 330 lbs of tongue weight for the largest trailer. To determine
your vehicle's capacity to tow a Boeckmann horse trailer, consult your manual for your
vehicle's towing capacity.
Take 10% of that towing capacity ... for example, a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder has a towing
capacity of 6000 lbs. 600 lbs is 10% of 6000 lbs. 600 lbs is the amount of weight the
Pathfinder can safely bear at the point where the tongue connects to the hitch. 600 lbs is
greater than the tongue weight of a Boeckmann 2-horse bumper pull trailer (tongue
weight 211 lbs), making the Nissan Pathfinder, a good potential tow vehicle.
